Following six hugely successful sold-out shows at the Phoenix Arts Club in Soho, RepresentAsian is headed to the West End and a much bigger theatre…for one night only, on Monday the 28th of April 2025, RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent will be held at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue! With a star-studded cast, this is sure to follow in the previous show’s footsteps and be a special night showcasing Asian talent.
This one-night-only concert will not only celebrate some of the best Asian musical theatre performers in the country but will also bring some new talent to the stage. RepresentAsian is a successful series of shows founded by Ben Armstrong, showcasing and highlighting fantastic Asian talent at a time when having diversity both on stages and in all forms of media has never been so important. This upcoming concert at the Lyric Theatre continues this mission, aiming to promote diversity and inclusivity by showing what wonderful Asian talent there is.
This concert is not only going to provide a brilliant night of entertainment for audiences, but it is also a fundraising event! RepresentAsian in partnership with The Boury Academy are using this concert to fundraise to create a scholarship for young, Asian individuals to train in the arts and widen the talent pool. Asian talent is very much here, and this scholarship will help get Asian people one step closer to getting on the stage.
Hosted by Nina Wadia, known for portraying Zainab Masood in Eastenders and currently performing in Now That’s What I Call a Musical, there is a fantastic cast set to take to the stage and wow audiences; appearing is musical theatre legend Joanna Ampil (Les Miserables, Cats, Waitress, Your Lie in April, Phantom of the Opera), and West End stars Desmonda Cathabel (Mamma Mia: I Have a Dream, Disney’s Aladdin, Hadestown), Lucca Chadwick-Patel (Broken Wings, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia, Mean Girls) and Joe Thompson-Oubari (Wicked), with Sejal Keshwala (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Aaron Teoh (But I’m a Cheerleader, Wicked: Part One, Wicked: For Good), Parisa Shahmir (Mamma Mia, Fisherman’s Friends) and Soophia Foroughi (Broken Wings, Rumi, Prince of Egypt, Aspects of Love). Additionally, Eunice De Castro, Reuben Khan, and Rayhan Lee, all of whom are currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music will also be there – making their West End debuts no less! This RepresentAsian concert is produced by Axia Amarante Productions, with Natalie Pound as the musical director, arranger and orchestrator, with designs by Ghostlight Productions, and further creative team members to be announced.
Ben Armstrong is not only the founder of RepresentAsian but also the casting director. Speaking about RepresentAsian and this exciting West End show, Armstrong says, “Representation matters a great deal to me, as a mixed-race Sri Lankan individual, and I want to give back to the Asian community. Providing access and opportunities to young people is how to widen the talent pool, strengthen representation and hopefully inspire others to commit to inclusivity and diversity in the arts. I can’t wait to share this show with a West End audience.”
With such a sparkling company ready to wow audiences and with all tickets being priced at under £45, it sounds like this RepresentAsian concert will be a very special night indeed. Not only will audience members be having a great night out at the theatre, but they’ll be supporting brilliant Asian talent whilst also helping to fundraise a scholarship for future Asian performers too. What could be a better way than to spend your Monday night than this?
